NSCLC.
24th January 2022
ABOUT:
Lung cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, and is the fifth most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia.
Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) = any type of epithelial lung cancer other than small cell lung cancer.
Affects the cells that line the main bronchi and smaller airways in the lungs.
NSCLC is often less aggressive than SCLC, however often detected at a later stage.
Treatment options include surgery, radiation, and chemo.
HRT.
31st January 2022
ABOUT:
Perimenopause is the transition phase to cessation of menstrual cycle (menopause). During this time, the female hormones wax and wane and significant health secondary and tertiary conditions may develop as a result following menopause. These include reduced bone mineral density, obesity, decreased physical activity, increased risk of development of frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy and depression and anxiety. 75% of women experience symptoms, and 25% describe symptoms as severe and greatly impact their quality of life.
•We aim to investigate the efficacy of combined hormone replacement therapy and specific exercise as medicine management over a 24-week period between two different subgroups:
•Those who are transitioning and in the perimenopausal phase (have just started HRT)
•Those who are currently on HRT
•4 key specialists are involved, and each will be referring 15 patients from each subgroup (and 15 control groups)
•These specialists were carefully chosen so further objectives of bio-identical vs non-bioidentical hormones can be analysed
LONG COVID.
ABOUT: The impact and management of Long-COVID continues to be updated as new research, outcomes and data is achieved.
•The impact of a COVID diagnosis can have long lasting effects with symptoms varying across all body systems.
•Long-COVID occurs in 5% of non-hospitalised people diagnosed with COVID-19, while 80% of those hospitalised will develop Long-COVID.
•Multimorbidity increases the risk of developing Long-COVID
•Our Exercise Medicine program for Long-COVID has been established with respect to the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Management (ICHOM) and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
•Working with key specialists such as Grant Waterer CCA is the first Long-COVID clinic in Perth.
Our programs will reach local, interstate and international communities affected by COVID
EDS.
1st March 2022
ABOUT: Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is a hereditary disorder affecting the connective tissue (skin, joints and blood vessels). With one major subgroup being hypermobilityA whole person, integrated team care approach is vital in the management of EDS to ensure the patient is achieving their highest quality of life possible. The prevalence of anxiety and depression is three to four times higher in patients with EDS. Our pilot trial is a joint trial with Peak Podiatry, investigating the clinical significance of the measurable outcomes and biomarkers of patients receiving combined podiatry and specific exercise as medicine over a 24 week period.
•Working with leading rheumatologists such as Dr Kevin Murray and colleagues.
50 patients with diagnosed EDS will be recruited for the trial
RESOLUTE.

Investigating the complementary role and value of exercise medicine in psychiatric intervention.
Working with clinical specialist and psychiatrist Richard Magtengaard. He will be referring 50 patients to Chronic Care Australia for this trial.
